Introducing Miss Bliss

Here she is…

IMG_2878,

In the Science Museum in London.

We were awaiting our lunch.  It was rather a good meal, if somewhat expensive.  Miss Bliss discovered she really did like tomato soup.  Both kids pissed off with me, I had been pushing to see as much of London as possible, all they wanted to do was go back to the hotel and read.  “Hell, No!” was my response.  I had just told Miss Bliss that we were going to see the Victoria and Albert once we were done at the Science Museum.  If you think she looks sullen, you should have seen her brother’s response.

Um, no, you shouldn’t.  It wasn’t pleasant.  We had one of our ‘Pearls before Swine’ moments right after I took this photo.

“But”, you ask, “did the kids enjoy London?”

Oh yes, very much, indeed.  If you’ve got the funds by all means take your kids to London.  Brits are so kid friendly, more so than most Americas.  Museums are very accessible and the city is easy to get around, by bus, tube or cab.  If you’re willing to shop at M&S or Tesco and eat in your hotel room or picnic, you’ll be able to stretch your food budget vastly.  Hotels can be awfully expensive but deals can be found.

Introducing Mr. Brilliant.

Here he is.  In London.  Very, very bored.  It was hot, too, too hot, and the tour was so very, very, very boring.

We decided to take a trip to the UK this year.  It was rather unexpected but very welcome.  We spent two weeks visiting a friend in York (a city well worth visiting) and a week in London.  I was pick-pocketed on a bus on our first day in London, but it turned out that cloud had a silver lining.  First off, I got to  meet the manager of the Money Shop in Hammersmith and wow, what a nice guy.  Second, we had to cut our trip short, therefore leaving London the day before the riots began.  Our hotel was right in the thick of some of the worst rioting, so I’m very pleased to have gotten out of Dodge when we did.
